now she is six...

I made Sunshine clean her room the day before her birthday.  She asked me why.  I told her I had a surprise for her and that her room needed to be clean for me to give it to her.  I blew up 20 balloons and was going to do 40, but I started having an allergic reaction to the powder that was in the balloons.  Anyway, back to her floor.  I realized that her room was the previous owner's craft room and that we have been finding pins on the floor for two months (and yes, we have vacuumed several times!).  So then I thought that I would just hang the balloons up.  That made Sunshine very happy when she woke up and saw a whole bunch of balloons hanging up just for her.

We were very nice and let her open her presents early in the day, mostly because she saw a HUGE bag and wanted to get into that first.  Grandma Hill had sent some money and told me to get something for Sunshine.  I knew exactly what to get.  Something she had been asking for for months.  A Pillow Pet.  She was super excited to get one!
She got some clothes.
Some oil pastels and paper (because she is an artist, you know).
She got some Littlest Pet Shop pets from her brother (one had fuzzy ears) and a princess book and figurines from her other brother.
She had an outfit change in the middle of the day when a package from one of her aunts arrived.  I love the expression on her face here, so I just had to include it for you.  Sunshine informed us that she never makes wishes though. She was just happy to have a heart-shaped cake with rainbow sprinkles.

turtle turns four...

Turtle turned four today and he was so excited for his big day.  He was telling everyone that it was his birthday and he was so cute about it.  We had an extremely low-key day because Dad, Buddy and Sunshine were all sick, again.  So I took Turtle out to pick out a cake and got him a Happy Meal for dinner.  He was thrilled!  He was happy about his presents as well.  Thanks to grandparents for the fun presents.  Turtle, along with Buddy and Sunshine, played with his new toys for awhile before going to bed.

birthday boys...

Did I ever tell you that I love that my son shares his birthday with my father? Just awesome. We happened to arrive at our vacation destination on their birthday and it was wonderful. What else do you need besides dinner with family?

I actually have an answer to that, or at least Buddy does. And the answer my friends is BOOKS!!!!!!!! And lots of them. I think he got about 10 books for his birthday, besides a few other useful things. Like a circuits set. If you haven't played with one - maybe it's time you should. So much FUN! Buddy has already made quite a few different projects and is having LOTS of good times.

So thanks Grandma Hill for giving him something he can play with over and over and over again.

We had dinner out with Grandmas and Grandpas and Aunts and even an Uncle and a cousin thrown into the mix. And the cake was beyond divine. White raspberry something or other that was perfectly moist. Yummy. Here is the other birthday boy. Even though he is pushing, um 40?, he is still a birthday boy. You don't ever hear the phrase "birthday man" do you? Point proved. I was glad to share his special day with him as well. He even got a birthday present from me - one of my pots that I made earlier this year. He promptly turned it into a coin dish/paperweight. Such a smart, efficient man. And I love him lots. And just more birthday pictures.Oh and this has to be the funnest toy ever. Again, if you haven't played with one of these remote control buggy things, you should find one and play with it. If you see a little kid playing with one in the park, bug that kid until he/she gives in and have fun.And here is most everybody who celebrated. It's not a great picture, but we were in a restaurant for crying out loud and no one looked in my direction. Sad, but true.
